Irene Chiu

Director

Irene Chiu is the Senior VP, General Counsel at MicroPort Orthopedics, a subsidiary of MicroPort Scientific (0854 HK Stock). She has an exceptional track record in the legal field spanning over 23 years. Irene is responsible for all legal and compliance matters globally. Prior to joining MicroPort, Ms. Chiu held multiple C-suite level positions, including VP, General Counsel at GCA Therapeutics, a specialty pharmaceutical company; Managing Director, General Counsel at NAL Pharmaceuticals Ltd., an international drug development company; and Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel at Systagenix Wound Management (a divestiture of J&J, and later as part of Acelity/3M), a global advanced wound care company. Previously, she was an experienced international corporate attorney (with finance / accounting background) in private practice with international law firms Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP and Hodgson Russ LLP. She was also associated with the Economic Crimes Divisions at the US Attorney’s Office, DC (intern) and the Hong Kong legislator (extern). Irene is licensed attorney in NJ and NY, and a qualified solicitor in the UK. She holds a Juris Doctor degree (with Honors) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude) from State University of NY at Buffalo, a Certificate in Financial Management from Cornell University, and a Certificate of Healthcare Compliance from Seton Hall Law School.


Irene is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and possess knowledge of Japanese. Irene is active in the community and currently serves on the board of trustees for the Princeton Charter School and the board of the Tennessee Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She is an activist for DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) and women’s rights and is a member of the Asian American Bar Association of NY, NJ Women Lawyers Association, Sino-American Pharmaceutical Professionals Association (SAPA), and National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She currently resides in Princeton with her husband and two children.
